Discussion

This spit was excavated to define the northern extent of ditch 012AD08467. The material removed was a medium sandy loam (Munsell 10YR 4/4, but also noted were patches of 10YR 4/3). Most of the finds were late Roman pottery, although Niedermendig lava fragments were also present. Relatively few animal bones were found.
